ALZip is another file compression utility, but not quite the same as other programs of the kind out there. To start with, ALZip is free, it handles over 30 compression formats, including ISO, plus it is twice as fast extracting files as WinZip. AlZip is really fast at extracting files; with the technique called Speed Extractor, it extracts the compressed file immediately to the default folder.
The second way to extract files is to use the Show Menu, which is the same context menu commonly found in WinZip or WinRar, with available extracting options such as: 'Here', 'Default Folder', 'Open with AlZip', etc. A great feature is the backup and update option. It avoids overwriting files, and losing data. Instead, it takes the same file and performs an update.
AlZip is also a file manager, and the new features of this version include sorting options, and enhanced self-extracting compressed file creation. A new password protection algorithm has been integrated; and the program supports 21 languages now. It has a total of eight output compression formats: ALZ, BH, CAB, TGZ, JAR, LZH, TAR, and ZIP archives, more than other compression programs.
Amazingly, the program includes a password recovery tool: imagine that most commonly we would have to get a separate application to do this. And best of all, it is a Free utility! So I fully recommend this program.
